Great to see such high quality holograms being made and shown on this forum.

I just came back from the Holography 2005 conference in Bulgaria:

http://www.optics.bas.bg/holo05.htm

I have put up some photos here:

http://www.bazargan.org/holo05

For me the highlights from a display point of view were the following:

Kubota
=====

He produced an astonishing full color reflection hologram, bettering his previous ones. It's a 3 colour H1/H2 transfer reflection, made on a Slavich panchromatic film. He is one of those guys who can get everything right in a hologram. You can see a movie clip here:

Geola
====

This is a very significant development. Geola have produced a printer that takes 3D data and creates a full colour reflection hologram. The process is similar to that of Zebra. They write the hologram pixel by pixel directly onto the film, in reflection format. Pixels are 0.8 or 1.6 mm in size.

Difference with Zebra are:

- Geola produce single parallax images
- It is full colour. Zebra is I think single color
- They use pulse, so no movement problems
- Very cometitive pricing - starting around $200 for 8"X10"

Watch these guys.......

Quality is good, but the single parallax does detract from ultimate realism. The primary market is advertising. They are marketing to printers, etc. They go up to around 1X1.5m, and the price is (very roughly) $4000.

Here is a movie of the hologram they had on show:

Kave, thanks for sharing. It's great to see there are still holography conferences around.

Maybe the PCG would like to do something similar, and that is to get all attendees to bring a couple of hologram to the next meeting so that everyone can see each others work in person. As we all know a hologram is worth a million words and photos simply do not do them justice.

What did Hans do to make his superrealistic Denisyuk so superrealistic?

Can you explain a little about Yuri's "referenceless recording process"?

It's just a Denisyuk hologram using several wavelengths, I think 3.

I am afraid not. I have seen him present it before, and didn't understand it. It's quite theoretical.

Kaveh - Welcome back. I believe Zebra Imaging's holograms are full-color:

I stand corrected. Wasn't sure. :-)

Very high quality holograms and cool photos and movies 8)

The Geola printed hologram is interesting, it is light "embossed" on a reflective foil similar to 'Mylar'? This is not a transmission?

No, it is a reflection (Lippman) hologram, made with beams coming from opposit sides of the film. So you have three sets of volume fringes.
