Do you know skype?

Skype is something like Personal Instant Manager like ICQ. But you can also use a headset to speak with people all over the world for free.

Perhaps we can use this for personal talks, and for online chatting in groups.

Yes, Skype is excellent for real-time communication but don't forget the time zones between North America and old Europa

Yes. I guess on my end it will be mostly evenings (GMT -5:00)

If we get enough members participating, we could set up a monthly conference call with a predetermined subject to discuss. I would not mind getting up in the middle of the night once in a while for a conference call.

I am only audio, I don't have a webcam hooked up to my internet computer.

Mostly cause I get free long distance chatting from my cell phone.

I also haven't had the time to set up and fiddle with Skype.
