Re: Tricks for measuring coherence length

If one gets a narrow peak with a Fabry Perot does it necessarily mean that it is spatially coherent? Can't a beam be very monochromatic but still have terrible spatial coherence? Is the Michelson technique the sure fire way?

Re: ISDH 2018

I thought it was going to be in Spain.
Whatever, I want to be there.

Re: Good to be back on the forum

Just run the output of the C315 into the beam splitter of your choice - glass plate, polarizing cube, or whatever. Then align the two outputs of the beam splitter into your reference and object fibers. A multimode fiber is very easy to align.

Re: Good to be back on the forum

I wasted money on single mode fibers. They don't work. Nice thick, 1 mm, multimode fibers work fine if the laser has enough coherence. Toslink cables are cheap and easy to find. Use any ordinary beam splitter to launch into the fibers.

Re: Good to be back on the forum

Yes, with enough coherence length, multimode fibers work well for the reference beam. I wish more holographers would give it a try.
